Easy & Delicious Filet Mignon Dinner Recipe!! Searing or Grilling

Filet Mignon

This is one of the easiest & most delicious dinner you’ll ever make.  It’s simple & elegant to  make for any special occasion.   My friend is coming to dinner & I want to cook her favorite “filet mignon”.

The filet mignon is a tender cut of beef and is arguably the most desirable and therefore the most expensive. But if you buy the whole filet of beef  you can get a better price per pound rather than buying  the filet already cut in portions.

True, when you are making dinner for two persons you do need to buy the whole filet, but you can always freeze the rest of the meat in the freezer.  I know when I buy the whole filet it does’nt even make it to the freezer, that’s dinner every night for me and my husband, let me tell you he is a happy camper.

For Grilling the Meat 

I use the rest of filet to make shish kabob.  I add in some salt to the meat, 7 spices, paprika, a couple of drizzles of light olive oil, little red wine vinegar (1-2 tsp) mix in the meat & marinade for an hour. You can grill this indoor or outdoor.  When the grill is hot throw the meat on & you’re good to go, another great dinner idea, quick, easy & delicious.

However, for this recipe, I will prepare the filet mignon by searing the meat on high heat, 3-4 minutes on each side.  Filet mignon is often served rarer than other meat , but if you like your meat well done you can cut the portion in half ( if the meat already cut into portions) then cook it, this will help the meat to cook fully.

You will need the following:

3-4 pcs of filet mignon (sliced 2-3 inches)

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup light olive oil

1/4 tsp 7 spices

High heat is best to cook the filet.  Bring a nonstick pan, when it’s hot drizzle in light  olive oil, yes, I use olive oil, add the meat and sear few minutes on each side or until it’s cooked to your satisfaction.  Don’t turn the meat until it’s a little brown on the edges then it’s ready for you to turn, , add a sprinkle of 7 spices & salt.  THAT’S ALL, it’s that simple!

I like to serve the filet mignon with sauteed mushrooms & Arugula salad . You can  saute’ the mushrooms in the same pan  just add in a little butter, throw in the mushrooms, some salt, black pepper, squeeze of lemon juice for freshness & you’re done.

Voila’!  Dinner is served, how simple is that?
